Twitter is now thinking of opening option of Reddit like Up Votes and Down Votes for tweets. This is decided after copying of Instagram Stories and shutting it down last week. This is now live for Twitter’s IOS app users.
Talking about Up Vote button, it will replace the current “Like” button.
Down Vote is different from Up Vote. It’s count is not shown to public for now. This, means a user cannot see if you have Down Voted a tweet or even the total number of Down Votes on a tweet.
These Votes will not change the order of replies on a tweet one see, according to Twitter.
To answer the questioning of relevance of this test, Twitter has clarified their part. In company’s view, this test will help company to know the type of replies the user want in a tweet and then company will work and will show relevant to that user.
Replying to questions of user, company tweeted, “In this research experiment, the thumbs down icon is a Down Vote that lets us know that you think the reply isn’t relevant to the conversation. We want to better understand the types of replies you do and don’t find relevant in a conversation”
Before even announcement by Twitter, user iglehart967 has already noticed it.
Company was also seen of testing Facebook style tweet reactions few time back. So this makes Up Vote and Down Vote only changes that user can see. To cope up with problems of unpopular opinions and hate and vulgar tweets, it will be compelling to see that what Twitter will opt Up Vote and Down Vote or Facebook style reactions.
