Apple Apologies

Everybody have heard that Apple slows down its older iPhones. Recently, Apple acknowledged that it knowingly slowed down older iPhones that had batteries degraded beyond an explicit limit. For sure the entire world went up in arms with several users taking Apple to court for class-action lawsuits.

The company has received a large amount of unhealthy press for this, that forced Apple to allow a response, apologizing to its users in an open letter revealed on company’s website. According to Apple slowing down of the iPhone’s was only for the better health of the overall phone. The letter states that-

“We’ve been hearing feedback from our customers about the way we handle performance for iPhones with older batteries and how we have communicated that process. We know that some of you feel Apple has let you down. We apologize. There’s been a lot of misunderstanding about this issue, so we would like to clarify and let you know about some changes we’re making.”

Apple also said that they don’t want to shorten the life of their products. According to Apple when users first reported about the slowdown after an iOS update they thought that,

“This was due to a combination of two factors: a normal, temporary performance impact when upgrading the operating system as iPhone installs new software and updates apps, and minor bugs in the initial release which have since been fixed.”

But now the company identify the real victim behind the slowing down i.e., battery. And Apple will try to better the situation in future iOS updates.

For the time being, Apple is offering a sigh of relief to its users in the form of reduced prices for batteries replacement and a promise for better future updates. Apple reduced the prices of its out-of-warranty battery by $50 and is now selling it for $29, which was originally of $79. The battery is for only for the users of iPhone 6 later. The offer will start in late January 2018. The company also promised to issue an iOS update which gives user more visibility into the health of device’s battery. The update will arrive in Early 2018.

So overall, this move will give Apple it’s lost Goodwill and will also prove that he is not the real victim behind the slowing down, its the battery.
